My greatest Morale Builder -
I wrote you this morning but such a good letter came this afternoon that I must write you again. Your letters are truly wonderful.
This morning after finishing your letter I decided to go to church. The Bone Chapel was dedicated today and it was announced that there would be a choir. That sold me on the idea of going. Three of the boys & I piled into the jeep and took off - all dressed up in fresh khakis. The service was very nice & simple with beautiful singing by a choir made up of 12 Filipino girls & three F. boys. They marched in singing the 2d & 3d stanzas of "Holy, Holy, Holy" after the congregation had sung the first stanza. Later they sang another beautiful selection. There was an excellent duet - solo & alto - and I couldn't help but think of you & Row singing in the choir. - All in all I enjoyed the service very much and will have to go again. The program was printed and a space left in the back page for a note. I have been owing Brother Howell a note thanking him for his Chirstmas greetings - so - I wrote him a note and sent it on to him. I thought he might appreciate this more than the usual thing. He may show it to you.
So Lynn Fisher's father is a Wesleyan man. That is some coincidence. If he was there in '34 - he was there when I was there too. I entered college in Sept. 1933. Do you know what class he was in. Probably the class of '38. I don't remember any Bud Fisher but I might remember his face. You might show him those Wesleyan newsletters as he may recognise some of the names. He might also like to see those yearbooks.
Do you know what outfit Capt. Laurier was in? And what division of his engineers were attached to some division? I might be able to inquire around.
I wrote a letter to Phyllis & Harry today and sent it to you. I have lost their Homewood address so will you please mail it in to them for me. I have been owing them a letter for some time. That was real nice of Harry to let you borrow his camera and give you his films.
How in the world did you get that bathtub, and sink home after buying it in Birmingham? I can just see it tied down in the top of the roof. Good thing you didn't have to carry a bowl! Old Liz sounds as tho she must be running all right again. I guess she would begin to use oil after two years on a reconditioned motor.
You mentioned the opal Jack got for Mell Glynn. He showed me a small amethyst bracelet he had gotten for her - or rather one of the pilots in his squadron had gotten it in Australia. He's had such an opportunity to get her such things. I wish I could get you something nice like that but really, honey, I haven't run on anything yet. And I'm really trying to find something for you. I don't remember your writing me of having received the drum & things. I have wondered whether you ever got it. You probably forgot to mention receiveing it. I have already written you that Jack is on Mindoro.
I didn't go to supper tonight and think I will kill my rooster and fry him. Langrell is going to kill two of his chickens so we'll just fry them all together and eat them up. Wish you could be here to enjoy our fried chicken.
Well, I guess I'll wind this up & chase down that rooster. I sure do love you, Mousie - or Supermouse - and wish I could be at home with you again. Then I wouldn't have to fry my own chicken.
All of my love & kisses
& chicken
