VALENTINE'S DAY

Will you be my Valentine, please?

My dearest, darling Valentine

Another sweet letter from you today!!! Whee! You are my Sunshine. And it is a good one too. A 10 pager. All I want now is you in my arms. Or in my lap! Wouldn't we have some fun!

So you have finally heard from me from my new APO. That is good. You were right about my location but a little off about the time of my arrival. I got there sooner than that but it was all right just the same. - The carton that you sent me was one of a soldiers in France who looks like many of the girls or boys in the town. And he says "This is the town my dad says he had such a good time in" -- So, I wrote that I'd look around at the boys and girls up here - when I got here - to see if any of them look like you. Considering that Will spent some time up in this neck of the woods - Now do you know why I mentioned it?

So ole Giles has been telling you about the kind of house he is going to have! Panama trees, an ocean, monkeys and all! Some house. I sure would like to hear him run off like that sometime. Maybe all three of us can get together and figure out our postwar dream house. The rug you write of crocheting sounds very good and I'm anxious to use it. Is it for the side of our bed? Your decision to go to sewing school to learn how is a good one. Remember when we get that daughter of yours you'll be wanting her dressed to kill and any sewing you can do will come in handy. When do you reckon we can start on her? I am anxious to get going.

So Allen Arches is at Yale now learning Japanese. No, I don't like the idea of the Army of occupation. All I want to do is go home - and fast. - I don't think they will permit officers or anyone to bring their wives over - and in any case I wouldn't care to expose you & G. to the danger of treacherous Japs. We'll see what opportunities present themselves when I get home & then we can make a joint decision. - I had wondered what had become of Allan and whether he ever did get into a malaria unit.

Darling, I prefer 4, 5 pages every other day than longer letters twice a week. Of course I like those 10 pagers and if you can stretch those 4 & 5's that long every other day why I'll be tickled pink.

What's this stuff about Johnny buying a farm? Are he & Evelyn going to move out to it? Are they living at Miss Mattie's? Farm!!

It was good to hear that the McBrides have been over for dinner. Gal, you sho do make my mouth water when you write of the swell dinner you prepared that Sunday. Our own rations get worse instead of better. But keep writing me of your dinners for I remember them well & only wish that I could enjoy them again.

Well, I'll close now & say I love you dearest - and always will. You are my precious.

All of my love, kisses & everything

Your own Emil
